Nice Wrasse

Manhattan Fish Market

This is a fancy little place we went to for lunch one day, because we could. it was about 3 and it wasn't crowded so we just went in. i saw this little survey form, that feedback thing. filled it up, then wrote my blog address on the back. so. if i want them to visit. the least i could do is review them right?

What it is:

Manhattan Fish Market is not a market. it isn't a grocery store for you to buy fish either. no. Manhattan Fish Market is a restaurant. they sell fish. fish and chips, baked fish, etc.

Why its great:

Okay first off. it's well worth it. its pricing is just right, if not awesome. it was um. 9.90 for a pacific dory fish n chips, and you can add 4.90 for a soup of the day and a iced tea. its not too costly, and us as students can easily afford it for some social gathering.

Secondly, the portions are large. they are large. thats a lot of fish they're giving you there. nuff' said.

Thirdly, the quality of the food, it is indescribable. your fish and chips is delivered to you, you smell the fragrance from the batter, you see the juicy lemon butter and the crispy golden-brown batter, you put your knife to the fish, and you hear the outer crust crack and break apart, you feel your knife cut through the soft fish with little resistance. you drive your fork into the fish. you smother it with their excellent not-just-tartar tartar sauce. you put it in your mouth. and you bite down. your teeth going through a whole myriad of sensations. the batter breaking apart, giving the nice crunchiness, the fish just giving way, tender and warm, all coming to taste just perfect with their tartar sauce, blending perfectly together.

chew, swallow, repeat. =p

Why it sucks:

first point, the servings are large. i know that can be a good thing, but sometimes, for a food like fish n' chips, after a while, you just get tired of the same taste over and over again, and you just can't go on. there's no variety, you order fish and chips, and you get fish and chips throughout. like for example. that paragraph with the formatting above, try reading that 50 times over. that's my point.

second point...

..i don't have a second point.

Should you try it?

I don't know really. i guess, for a restaurant, its personal preference. if you like fish, go ahead. fish and chips isn't the only thing they have. heck, if you like seafood, go ahead. if i know you like seafood, i'd ask you to go there.

Where can i find it?

There are at the moment, 2 outlets in singapore. there is one in Plaza Singapura [Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station], and one in central [Clarke Quay MRT Station (and you can go clubbing later)]. i was at the one at central, and personally i think its less crowded there, even during dinner/lunch rush.

My Rating:
As usual, with everything, it has a large number of pros, but also has a few shortcomings here and there that block it from the elusive 5 star rating.

Haha. Seems delish. But someplace you'd like to go with someone else and share half half. Or if you're fussy, go with three friends. xD

I'm commenting. WHEEE.

Forgive me. It's my anti-emo immune system. (:

yeah, seems like a good deal. I've only got to order 2 entree and that will be sufficient for all 3 of us. And if fussy Wesley likes it, hey, i think it has to be good.
